Speak Up
Youth Homelessness
Delivered by Council for the Homeless NI, the Speak Up project is funded by the Northern Ireland Housing Executive (NIHE) and supported by the regional Health and Social Care Board (HSCB).
It aims to create meaningful opportunities for young people, who are homeless or at risk of homelessness to positively inform and influence how services are planned and delivered to young people across Northern Ireland - www.chni.org.uk/youth.html
Westcourt worked alongside the Council for the Homeless NI to capture and document the experiences of young people from Belfast, Coleraine and Lurgan and to share their ideas for change or development from their perspective.
The project used digital imaging and audio to involve and give a voice to young people that have experienced homelessness or housing difficulties. It produced a series of photographic images and audio recordings which were exhibited at the Speak Up Regional Event in the Titanic Building in Belfast on 10th December 2015.
