Action Plan for Schools

Westcourt marked World Homeless Day 2017 by launching a Homelessness Awareness Action Plan.

The aim is to encourage primary schools, secondary schools and education projects to raise awareness of Homelessness as a human rights issue.

As part of the plan, those involved will introduce human rights education, encourage all pupils to get involved in campaigning and awareness raising, link with a local homeless charity or service, work with other schools to highlight the issue and organise an event during Homelessness Awareness Week each year.

The initiative is endorsed by the Edmund Rice International NGO in Geneva and Council For The Homeless Northern Ireland.

Westcourt will work in partnership with schools and education communities to help implement the plan.

To date projects and schools in Armagh, Belfast, Cork, Newry and Stoke have signed up.
